SHANICE TAYLOR
Community Health Worker
Shanice Taylor is a Community Health Worker with the Kansas City Health Start Initiative. Growing up, she was interested in social service, which led her to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. The focus of her career has been eliminating health disparities. Shanice was an AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) for the Wyandotte County Health Department. There, as a Health Equity Mobilizer, she helped coordinate the Fetal and Infant Mortality Review. She worked on creating interventions with a team of doctors, nurses, health professionals and community members to reduce infant death rates. Shanice is working on her Master’s degree in Social Work. When she isn’t reading or writing, she enjoys giving back. Currently, Shanice is advocating for safer and more affordable housing conditions in metro KC.
