Update: Kansas City Healthy Start Initiative
Mother & Child Health Coalition (MCHC) is excited to announce that a Notice of Award for a total of $4,870,000 was received for the Kansas City Healthy Start Initiative (KCHSI) from the Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration. These funds will support continued care coordination and case management services over the next 5 years in 6 ZIP code areas of Wyandotte County KS and 8 ZIP code areas in Jackson County, MO for pregnant women, infant care givers and their children, and the fathers and/or male significant others of the children enrolled in the program. Services will be provided by Community Health Workers located within MCHC, Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center and Swope Health Services. An Evaluation team will be subcontracted through the University of Missouri Kansas City for data collection and curricula training purposes. KCHSI has provided these services for over 23 years to literally thousands of families in the Kansas City metro area.
