Kansas City Healthy Start Initiative

We take a holistic approach to family health when it comes to improving birth outcomes in Kansas City. There is a continuum of care that extends far beyond the clinical setting. Healthy Start is the backbone of Nurture KC’s mission. KCHSI deploys community health workers covering 12 ZIP codes in Kansas City, MO and Kansas City, KS with the highest rates of infant mortality, providing one on one support to pregnant women, dads and infants up to 18 months old.

Healthy Start

Nurture KC hosts the only urban Healthy Start program in Missouri and is 1 of 100 Healthy Start Initiatives in the nation.

Services Include:

• One-on-one support from Community Health Workers
• Education on pregnancy, infant health, safe sleep, and parenting
• Help accessing health insurance and prenatal or pediatric care
• Connections to nutrition, breastfeeding support, and food assistance
• Education and counseling about alcohol and drug abuse during and after pregnancy
• Referrals to housing assistance and other community resources

Healthy Start is available at no cost to eligible families living in the following ZIP codes across the Kansas City metro area.

Support for Pregnancy & Baby’s First Year

Nurture KC is excited to offer the Bump2baby360® app to our Healthy Start participants. This free, easy-to-use app gives you helpful information, reminders, and
support from pregnancy through your baby’s first year.

What You’ll Find in the App:

• Education for pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, baby care & more.
• Kick counter, contraction timer, personal journal, feeding log, immunization log, and other tools.
• Pregnancy Milestones – Follow along with baby’s development as they grow.
• The Healthy Start Baby App is available in 18 different languages.

Step 2: Check your Email

Once you have registered, you will receive an email invitation from noreply@bump2baby360.com. If you don’t receive an email, be sure to check your spam/junk folder.

Step 3: Download & Login

Download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Search bump2baby360. Use the provided username and password from your email to log in.
