Missouri’s Government Assistance Plan for Most Vulnerable Citizens During COVID-19

Angie Henderson Hot Topics, News March 23, 2020

Governor Mike Parson has announced several concrete commitments to Missourians dependent on government aid to help them through the Coronavirus pandemic. For example, Missouri will waive work requirements for food stamps for 90 days, extend child-care subsidy benefits for 90 days, relax prescription refill requirements and not terminate Medicaid participants’ eligibility.

“My administration and I are committed to providing quality healthcare to those most dependent on state assistance and ensuring access to those in need of medical services or medications,” Governor Parson said. “A health care provider’s primary focus should be on delivering what a MO HealthNet participant needs to remain healthy during this time, not on the participant’s coverage.”
