Nurture KC’s Annual Event brings together experts to help local families
How can our community come together to help Kansas City families who need it most? Nurture KC’s Annual Event is a tangible step to do just that. The event, called “Families First: Expanding our Approach to Wellness,” will take place June 22 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Loretto Auditorium, located at 1111 West 39th St. in KC, MO.
The event kicks off with keynote speaker, Pamela Merritt, Executive Director of Medical Students for Choice. Merritt’s career reflects her dedication to expanding access to reproductive healthcare. Other experts will cover these topics:
• Expanding Access: Postpartum Medicaid Extension Panel
• Nurturing Safe Sleep: Hospital Certification Project
• Tenants’ Rights and the Impact on Vulnerable Families
• Medicaid Eligibility and the End of the Federal Health Emergency
(Note: These topics are listed in presentation order.)
“Our Annual Event serves as a springboard to bring all these experts together to make a positive difference in lives of local families, such as the families we serve through our Healthy Start program,” says Tracy Russell, Executive Director of Nurture KC. “The goal is for this collaboration to produce real and lasting change to improve maternal and infant health in Kansas City. Anyone is welcome to attend the event – community members, health care providers, case managers and more!”
Nurture KC works to reduce infant and maternal mortality and improve family health for KC metro families who need the most support. We do so through public policy action and three main programs: Healthy Start, Mid America Immunization Coalition (MAIC) and the Fetal Infant Mortality Review Committee (FIMR). Nurture KC is committed to health equity for all families – regardless of race, place or circumstance – because we all deserve the opportunity to be healthy.
