This is a difficult time in our country. Nurture KC is committed to serving and supporting the communities of Kansas City, MO and Kansas City, KS regardless of color, race or ethnicity. We condemn all forms of racist behavior and violence against the African American community. The disparate maternal and infant morbidity and mortality rates that remain stubbornly high for African American mothers and babies is a direct result of policies, systems and an environment that favor one race over another. As we continue to serve families across the KC metro area with the highest rates of infant mortality and lowest life expectancy, our reach is limited without a cultural transformation that acknowledges and acts on racial injustice. The tipping point has been reached and the real work must begin in eradicating racial inequity as a priority for all.
