Due to the upcoming retirement of the current Executive Director, MCHC is seeking an experienced leader to provide vision, leadership and operational oversight to all aspects of the organization.

Mother & Child Health Coalition (MCHC) believes that every child deserves a healthy start. Its vision is that every child in the greater Kansas City metro area will be healthy. MCHC works together with community partners and families to promote wellness and advocate for excellence in health care for all. The organization is a recognized leader in reducing infant mortality and improving the health and safety of families in the community.

Mother & Child Health Coalition began in the early 1980s when a few healthcare professionals began working together to address concerns about unacceptable health indicators of lower income women and infants. Since its early beginnings as an all-volunteer group, the organization has grown steadily and strategically to where it is today. Today the group is comprised of several hundred organizational and individual partners in five metropolitan counties in Kansas and Missouri and provides a wide range of programs and services related to health promotion and prevention.  For over a decade, the organization functioned as a volunteer-driven coalition led by dedicated individuals who donated their time to move the mission of MCHC forward.  By 1994, the activities and efforts of MCHC had grown to such a point that an executive director was hired to provide the required consistent leadership.  From a staff of one, the organization now has 12 staff positions to support its various programs and operations.  The Coalition has an annual budget of $1.3 million.  The organization has consistently maintained a good financial position due to its board and staff leadership and oversight.
