 Position Description

Position Title: Education and Health Promotion Coordinator

Position Summary:    This position is responsible for the education and training of health care providers and consumers of child-bearing age and their families, especially participants in the Kansas City Healthy Start program.

Reports to: Executive Director, Mother & Child Health Coalition

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates all Kansas City Healthy Start education and training activities with priority given to Kansas City Healthy Start service area
  • Coordinate training in community settings and supervise training
  • Coordinate continuing education accreditation for provider training events
  • Coordinate training of Healthy Start Care Coordination and Outreach Site Teams
  • Provide staff support for program and public awareness activities
  • Assist in development of consumer education materials
  • Work with Healthy Start key personnel and committees to develop and implement consumer recruitment strategies
  • Assist with production of Coalition newsletters
  • Coordinate Coalition-sponsored education programs/conferences
  • Promote maternal and child health and safety at community public awareness events
  • Serve as Healthy Start and Coalition liaison for designated community meetings

Education Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, health or social services
  • Master’s degree preferred

Qualification Requirements:

  • At least three years professional experience
  • Experience in adult education
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office suite, social media, etc.)
  • Experience working with volunteers and multi-cultural populations
  • Strong organizational skills, team building and self-starter
