Compassionate Culture: Orientation to Trauma Informed Care

Trauma Informed Care (TIC) is a best practice for working with people in all facets of our communities, given the high prevalence of trauma throughout our systems, urban or suburban. Teachers, all levels of leadership, administrators, nurses, child care providers, social workers, support staff, front line workers and volunteers will greatly benefit from the experience of being trained to promote Safety, Choice, Trustworthiness, Collaboration, Empowerment and Resilience within themselves and those they serve; as well as have an understanding of how trauma impacts all systems and relationships. No matter your desired outcomes, we are all more effective when we are mindfully present, calm, compassionate and open to connection.

This workshop is ideal for individuals who would like a basic understanding of the development of the TIC movement and the evidenced-based research on how trauma impacts the brain and all our systems.

Objectives:

  • Define trauma and understand its systemic impact
  • Identify and describe the key research of the ACE study and the TIC movement
  • Recognize the relevance of the TIC principles in your work/life
  • Understand the importance of personal resilience
