The Business Case for Breastfeeding

Supporting breastfeeding employees is good for business. Employers who provide a supportive environment to help women continue breastfeeding after childbirth enjoy many proven benefits that directly affect their bottom line.  These include:

  • Lower health care costs
  • Lower turnover rates
  • Lower absenteeism rates
  • Higher employee productivity and morale
  • Positive public relations in the community as a “family friendly” business

We invite your company to join the hundreds of breastfeeding-friendly companies across the United States, in the state of Missouri and in the Kansas City, Missouri metro area that have implemented lactation support programs and experienced bottom-line benefits.

The Kansas City, Missouri Health Department and Mother & Child Health Coalition are currently collaborating as part of a grant from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, to identify employers who support breastfeeding mothers as they return to the workplace.   Mother & Child Health Coalition is working with B.E. Education Group, LLC to implement and encourage employers to participate in this important worksite initiative.   This initiative can be a win-win for both your company and your employees, by establishing a worksite lactation support program as part of your company’s health benefit program.

To view the criteria or to apply for the “Missouri Breastfeeding Friendly Workplace Award” complete the application and submit it to the email address shown on the form. Please click here for a list of Missouri businesses that have already been recognized as a “Breastfeeding-Friendly Workplace.”

If you’d like more information on how you can receive this award designation, and free assistance to help your new mothers and their families adjust to balancing work and family through support and encouragement, please don’t hesitate to call or email us at the numbers below.
